Love these loppers
I love these loppers. I used them for the first time yesterday and they were really sharp and able to cut through awkward dead branches at the base of my plant that I couldn’t get before. The locking system to adjust the handle was a game changer for me too. My old ones just twisted and would undo on occasion. I was not made aware of the fact that you are required to operate the handles multiple times to acheive one cut. This makes it less suitable and laborius for smaller branches. Easy to cut thicker stems.
Ratchet mechanism means you can cut quite thick stems with much less effort than a conventional lopper. The down side is you can't use this for quick slices, such as chopping a smaller branch up to put in your recycling bin. My only reservation is the handles feel light and a little weak. Excellent for thick up to 50mm branches.
Excellent tool. Cuts through large 50mm branches with 4 clicks with ease. Thinner branches are easier to cut with a 'normal' non ratchet cutter however as it still needs the 4 clicks to complete a cut. Does need extra room for the handle movement, especially when extended. As forewarned in a review read before I committed to the purchase, the ratchet design means that each cut requires multiple moves to close the ratchet mechanism, which can be tiresome when you're trying to cut something quite thin or insubstantial.
