For the price, you get what you pay for sadly...
UPDATE: I pulled this out to use later in the year when temperatures started to drop. The unit would no longer show a reading, with the number barely flashing but never getting a lock no matter how carefully I aim. I thought perhaps this was due to the battery starting to fail due to the temperature, but a new battery didn't do anything to fix the issue.
So I have a useless rangefinder less than a year into ownership, and the seller is ignoring my message regarding this. You can get a much better rangefinder for just a few dollars more than this and similar knockoff brands, I'd suggest you give them a look.
INITIAL REVIEW:
Used it for half a dozen rounds so far. Worked as expected every time, and the measurements were consistent (and accurate enough according to other rangefinders & course markers). There is no lock-on function that I can see (nor do I expect one at this price point), but the measurements "endure" long enough that passing the crosshair over the flag a few times gives me a reliable reading.
Rain season is coming, and I am NOT expecting this one to survive a soaking based on its construction. That being said I'll attempt to update this review with reporting on how it makes it through the winter.
