    £20 well spent

Bought by a total novice, to tackle a small bit of re-grouting in a bathroom. It's basically a small pneumatic drill, with 2 different heads. (A chisel and a cone) It's a piece of cake to use, and works a treat. It doesn't make de-grouting "easy" but it makes it a heck of a lot easier than doing it by hand, with a balded hand tool, which is a proper faff. You need a steady hand, as if it slips, it tends to make marks on tiles etc, but that's user error, not the product's fault. As it says, £20 well spent.

    Vitrex grout removal tool.

OK for small areas and tight corners. Otherwise better off using a hand scraper. Only one width tip available. Had to grind down tip to suit my job.

  • Vitrex Grout Out Electric Pneumatic Grout Remover

I spent quite a lot of time researching this and similar products, as well as reading customer reviews and watching demonstration videos before buying it. I'd been removing 10 year old, hard grout from thin jointed floor and wall tiles using a manual grout rake and utility knife, in order to fully clean the joints for a deep regrout. I had literally been working for more than a week using these tools before deciding to invest in a Vitrex Grout Out. I had high expectations because the videos showed it removing old grout effortlessly and quickly. My real experience is that the tool performs well and is an invaluable component in your grout removal tool collection BUT that on thinner joints with relatively new/hard grouting, it still requires time and effort to clean the joints. In the end, I used Vitrex' Grout Out tool for the first pass at removing the grout, then went in to the joints with a manual grout rake to clean up the sides of the joint and get the required depth for a full regrout. Some things that are impressive about this tool, are that 'as advertised' it DOES NOT chip tile edges whilst removing grout (which was a problem I was encountering beforehand, when using a manual rake only) and the tips (conical & chisel end) are surprisingly hard wearing. I bought a set of replacements 'just in case' but to date have not needed to use them. All in all, I'd say this is a well made, economically priced product that offers time saving benefits for larger areas of tiling but it should be used/viewed as one of several tools for this purpose..

  • Re-grouting made a little easier

What a little work horse. Easy to use, comes with 2 cutting heads and a great price. Nothing wrong in being small because this baby will not give up on you. My wife and I read the manual before using the " little devil". The wife was the first to take a test drive and just didn't stop - totally absorbed. OK it is noisy and shakes; and gets warm as the blade vibrates along doing its thing. That aside fIts comfortably in the hand and goes where you want it. Definitely for the D.I.Y user. This was the first project in our retirement and we are very satisfied. 5 star solution

This tool makes small grout replacement easy if doing large areas you will need extra tips

  • 'Does Not Do What It Says On The Tin'

Noisy piece of kit. Hard work getting the grout out and the nib gets very hot. I found that it is almost as easy to use a manual tool.

  • Great tool, good value and easy to use

Very handy little tool. Does the job perfectly and does not damage tiles. I did also buy a grout file for very narrow areas since I felt this would be better in these areas but the electronic grouper is perfect for normal-spaced tiles. Highly recommended.

  • Fairly pointless

I watched the online clips of this being used and it looked very impressive but the reality is somewhat different, I understand that I may have had tough grout but I doubt it, after two hours of using this my hands were tingling for a further hour and the grout remained, albeit a little rougher

  • Great tool. Does the job really well, as...

Great tool. Does the job really well, as long as you follow the instructions! Don't apply too much pressure. Let the tool do the work. Used this to "rake out" the old grout in our shower cubicle, set in an alcove so three sides to do and 7 feet high walls! Did the job a treat, much faster and less effort than grout "rakes". Found lowest setting (1) worked best. The only downside I found is that it gets very hot, too hot to hold, after about 20 minutes use.
