The ultimate camera for beginner dummies
This is the ultimate camera for beginner dummies like me. I wouldn't know how to work a pro SLR. It is super easy to use on the 'Automatic' option. The 40x zoom is amazing for a camera this size and weight. I have been advised not to use the digital zoom, because it impairs image quality. The adjustable screen is great. The lack of a touch screen is a clunky disappointment in this day and age, but it is not a deal-breaker. I am such a dummy that I can't easily find my stored images to view them on the screen. Frustrating
My realistic expectations were not met with this camera. I was fully aware it wouldn’t perform like my dslrs, but unless you are shooting an image with no focus it’s very poor. Altering f stops is frustrating as it seems to constantly switch to exposure settings, flash settings etc. The plan was to have a compact camera I carry whilst working, giving images somewhere between an iPhone and my DSLR’s. This canon camera is great for all types of photography, close up and far off. Clear viewfinder and you'll love the lift up angle screen for selfie pics. Good robust camera body but small enough to carry in the pocket. The image stabilisation is much better than previous models. Great little camera
40x zoom at very good pixel/optical quality - must be the best compact around for these two criteria. Different arrangements of buttons and dials to my previous 260HS cameras, and the flash doesn't pop up automatically. My GoTo camera.
Previously had a Canon SX730 and upgraded to the 740. Excellent camera. Up until buying the 730, I used Panasonic all the time, but the Canon cameras are easier to use, the batteries seem to last longer and the colours are outstanding.
