    Spot on!

I’m a HGV mechanic and use grinders all the time. I was cautious buying this one because older Dewalt models and even snap-on and makita battery powered grinders are generally quite weak and stall a lot. This thing is an absolute animal! Bought alongside some 5ah batteries and it’s as strong as a corded grinder and lasts for ages. I would recommend any tradesmen this grinder over any other brand as I have already trialled and tested them all and this is by far the best

    Disappionted

Dewalt state this tool must be used with a type 1 closed guard when used with composite cutting discs. The item doesn't come with such a guard and I cannot buy one that fits this tool. I have written to Dewalt 3 times asking where I can purchase one and they haven't even replied. The tool isn't safe for its intended purpose, according to their own instruction manual.

  • Excellent grinder

I had few battery powered grinders before, but nothing could compete to this one. It has same power as mains powered grinders, plus it stops when disk get seized. Fits into hand perfectly. But 5Ah genuine battery is minimum as it is really hungry.

  • Suprisingly good Battery Angle grinder

As usual, good De Walt tool. Delivered on time (actually a day early!), Well packaged and in good condition. Used already. Stronger than I thought a Battery grinder would be. Only thing is that it doesnt like 2Ah batteries. So have ordered some 5Ah to get best use. Am I happy with purchace: Yes,very.

  • Great to have no trailing lead

Using with a 9Ah battery gives about an hours work, although after that if the disc is not balanced you hands are deffinately feeling it due to the lower machine weight. Once the battery is down to under 10% only then did I notice that the motor seemed to slow. The switch is a bit different in that it is latching and one on will continue to run and you can move your hands, although from a safety persepective it may not be ideal but from a work perspective quite useful. The switch is not in the ideal position but the lactching makes this a bit irrelevant. Arrived today and already had a couple of hours use and being use to trailing power cables all over the place this feels like a good choice after deburring some large steel and removing 2yrs surface rusting from 100x60 RHS. Batteries are the slow evolving future, just like the computer.

  • Dewalt battery grinder

A well designed product, as you would expect from Dewalt. Quite heavy on battery life, unsurprisingly, so would recommend using 5ah minimum.

  • Like butter

The dewalt DCG405N is a great tool, I needed to cut through some concrete and I know the cutting disk makes the job but the dewalt handled it with ease, like a knife through butter, great piece of kit, easy to use, the safety guard turns at the push of a button and twists to the position you need or take it off completely. Bush the button up a little or push it all the way up to lock it in the on position.

  • Up to professional standard

Traditional disc securing nut would have been sufficient but the new design works if not a little slower...never the less excellent tool more practical without the lead don’t know about battery life on this product yet ..but can opt for a high capacity battery if needed..I say this cos a grinder tends to be used for longer running periods than drills by experience ..would have thought this would have been a recommendation of manufacturer Would recommend this griinder already cut substantial steel good steady energy

  • DeWalt DCG405N 18v XR Cordless Brushless 125mm Angle Grinder

The angle grinder seem pretty good, I had the choice between the Ryobi brushless and this one, but in the end I went for the DeWalt as I already had a tool with the compatible battery and charger so it worked out more economical to get the DeWalt. The only think bad I can think of is the noise the gearbox makes when it's operating, maybe it's a normal thing but the Bosch professional wired tools seem to be a fare bit quieter in operation, maybe after it's worn in it will quieten down but only time will tell. I would still recommend it as it has decent torque and speed for cutting, plus being brushless should hopefully mean no maintenance.
