Best Kid's Bible We've Purchased So Far
This is the fourth children's Bible we have purchased since my six year-old was born. With the others, they were either too simple or too advanced in terms of content. This one is great--my son's Godmother runs an after-school and summer camp program and she said the kids actually FOUGHT over getting to read her one copy of this Bible, so she ended up ordering one for every child! My son BEGS me to read it at night and pleads for "just one more story"! I would personally prefer for this to be a little more biblically-based, as there is a great deal of paraphrasing and some conjecture, but the content IS compelling and age-appropriate. I love that this Bible clearly demonstrates the thread that runs throughout the larger Bible: that from the beginning, God had a plan for our redemption.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Nice, but a bit nebulous
Nice book, well illustrated with good concepts (I think). In an effort to make it kid-friendly, the author has gone over the top a bit, in some of the wording..For example, in the story of creation, in the part where God said, "Let there be light," the author says "God said, 'Hello, light." And where God saw that it was good, they say something like, "And God said, 'You're really good." Without going deep, something about some of the text makes me vaguely uncomfortable, possibly the inference that God was an appreciative bystander, not the awesome creator. I feel it is possible to communicate the original story in a way that interests kids, without straying quite so far from the original order. But maybe it's just me. I will keep the book and probably donate it to a library, however I will not buy several others to use as gifts.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Not just for little kids
One of my college professors told me about this book. He has little children himself, but he also said that he reads this for himself. I was very curious as to why, so I bought one for myself. He was right. It's not just for little kids. This book takes Bible truths and turns them into one-liners that impact my heart. Another thing I love about this book is that it tells Bible stories while keeping the big story of the whole Bible in mind. Thus the line, "every story whispers His name." I'd recommend this for little kids, but also adults who want the Lord to touch their heart with simple Bible truths. Paul has written so many things, but because he was so smart, sometimes it's hard to read. This book takes those hard to read truths and makes them simple so that they impact and transform your heart. We need more of that! We are using this book to teach our preschool and elementary age children how to ask big questions as they read, and how to find the answers from the text as they read God's word. Best Children’s Bible
My son got it for my grandson and he read some of it to me. I have now purchased four of them. I have two other grandchildren that will enjoy them. The other two I purchased for friends grandchildren. I own several children’s Bibles that I used when my children were growing up. I have never seen a children’s Bible, so compelling as this one! I highly recommend this to anyone who wants their children or grandchildren to enjoy reading the Bible. It is written in a storybook form, and it is very easy to enjoy and understand. Best children's Bible. It brings to life the love of our Heavenly father for his children. It shows God's rescue plan for his people
I love how this Children's Bible brings God's plan to save his people to live. It retells the Bible stories and shows the connection to the coming rescuer Jesus. The stories show how we as humans try to keep our promises, but fail. God loves us anyway and continues to pursue us and provide for us and God always keeps his promises. He provided a way to sacrifice for sin in the old testament and the old testament was pointing to the coming of a redeemer, a forever rescuer. Jesus Christ is that rescuer. My kids have loved this Bible since they were toddlers and as an adult, I enjoy reading it. It helps to remind me that God's plan is greater than any plan I have. God has been in control all along. He spoke the universe into existence, he created all that exists. God loves me and accepts me just as I am. He calls me to become more like him. This Children's Bible gets those major ideas and promises from the Bible and makes them understandable for children. Just what I've been looking for
I've been looking for a gentle way to introduce the bible to my kids since we are not very religious and this book is just what I've been looking for. I don't like all the deaths that comes in the bible and the story of jesus skips most of that and really tells his story in a more preschool age appropriate way. I love how colorful the illustrations are, great book over all.
