These two epic films of mythological spectacle star the musclebound former bodybuilder Steve Reeves. THE GIANT OF MARATHON finds Athens on the brink of invasion by the Persian army, led by the brutal dictator Darius and outnumbering the Athenians dishearteningly. The hero Philippides (Reeves) refuses to give up, however, traveling to Sparta to enlist help and bravely facing the adversaries. The beautiful Andromeda (Mylčne Demongeot), however, may have less than noble motivations, and betrayal may prove the Athenians' downfall. Italian giallo legend Mario Bava, who was the cinematographer for GIANT, was forced to step in to direct when the project was abandoned by director Tourneur. In THE LAST GLORY OF TROY, Reeves stars as Aeneus, champion of the oppressed Trojans, who have been enslaved by the brutal Etruscans. He leads them to freedom, saving a beautiful princess in the process, as well as the honor and glory of Troy.
