Game improvement with forged heads
I love the looks and feel of these clubs....I owned a set 15 years ago and have come full circle after going through the latest and greatest new technology. I am now 63 yrs old...a 6 or maybe a 5 will be my longest club..having just aquired these I am still getting the feel back but am happy to have "come home". Wish I'd gone to forged cavity backs sooner...
The quality the Mizuno MX-23 cavity backs is so much greater than the cast cavity backs irons they replaced. With only three years experience and most rounds in the 90-95 range, I am definitely a high handicap with much to learn. These irons aren't some miracle cure for your game. But they did almost immediately reduce my scores by 3 or 4 strokes per round. Not a lot for my handicap, I know. But the feel of these forged irons is soooo much better with my old cast irons. I know I have irons that I can grow into. And perhaps more importantly for any mid to high cappers out there who may read this... be careful about believing the prevailing wisdom most commonly found online suggesting that forged is only for low to mid caps. The MX-23 cavity backs are every bit as forgiving (and then some) as the supposed game improvement cast irons I've had the chance to hit. But I was fairly patient when looking for forged Mizunos. I knew ahead of time that I needed standard length and lie. And I knew that TT DG S300 shafts work well for me. So I waited until I found a set of forged cavity backs with those specs. I was open to either the MX-20, MX-23 and MX-25 Mizunos. Finally found what I wanted in the 23s. It wasn't until they'd already been delivered that I learned the MX-23s were (and I believe still are) the #1 selling forged cavity back in history (all manufacturers included). After hitting them for a few months, now I know why. Honestly, I feel like I stole them at $165 (shipping included). Since buying them, I have absolutely no desire to hit another iron. With the MX-23s, I know for certain that all of my misses are my swing, not my irons. If I could afford a backup set of irons, I'd own two sets of MX-23s. And for sure... If I'm unfortunate enough to have my clubs stolen tomorrow afternoon, I'll be scouring ebay tomorrow night for my next set of MX-23s.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
