Beautiful and sensitive portrayal of the pain of adultery.
Beautifully and sensitively filmed with a screenplay that builds on itself. It portrays the psychology of adultery in a Californian landscape where the modern artist creates reality for himself, but finds it excruciatingly empty, though his houses and women have beautiful surfaces. Excellent period film to reflect on the beginning the degradation of our culture, that began with an attempt at an austere beauty but without divinity. Also good to show how marriage partners can become strangers in their own home. Interesting how "Fatal Attraction" is essentially a remake by the son of Kirk, Michael Douglas.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

I am sorry that i can not give a good review on this dvd. The dvd is faulty, it sticks in four places. The actors are great . The story is good. . I Met "Strangers When We Meet" on Ebay
Classic movie from 1960 about the affair of 2 married suburbanites. Complications ensue but Kim Novak and Kirk Douglas have great screen chemistry and I was hoping for them to make it all work out together. Hard to believe life in Los Angeles was as beautiful as this in 1960 - it's a look back to the way it used to be. Loved the scenes of the new under construction home-in-the-hills which is key to the story. And for anyone who only knows Walter Matthau from "Grumpy Old Men" or "The Odd Couple" this movie has his performance as "Felix", their neighbor with a sinister personality. I searched in vain to find this movie and finally found it on ebay. Fast delivery, product was as described, fair price for a hard-to-find DVD which arrived in good condition so I'm happy with the purchase. One Of My Favorites
Kirk Douglas and Kim Novak were electrifying whenever onscreen together in this movie. I’ve seen it several times, but I had to buy the DVD because it is not shown on TV often. I find it ironic that Kirk Douglas was very unhappy with the director Richard Quine during filming. That unhappiness did not show up on the screen in Douglas’ performance. Douglas said that Quine spent all his time assisting Kim Novak (Quine’s real life lover) and rarely assisted him. A little jealousy? Also interesting - the house that is being built in this movie is one that Richard Quine bought for himself with the hope that Novak would live in it with him.
