Don’t believe what you’ve read before - this is an extraordinary recording of the last days of Holiday’s life, and documents her genius which is still very much present in her performance here. She was just 44 when she died, but every month of her life is in evidence in this collection of standards. Well worth a punt, and only recently ‘re-discovered’ for the important recording that it is.
