Wonderful Find in Amazing Condition
This Lego Set is 40ish years old...It's still in amazing condition, Building, or re-building some 35ish years later, it is still a huge joy...More so this time for all the memories that came flooding back. The Lego plastic can in some cases become weak and brittle...Some of the bushes (two can be seen immediately below the steering wheel...These crack around the barrel (Not the worst outcome they are still usable) when this occurs they grip the axles with less bite. When they crack at the rim (The worst place) they stop gripping and easily fall off or let go. The Universal Joints have bush ends and suffer the same issues. Any piece with bush/bush ends should be looked at closely for failures. The 8860 Chassis Car is not only an amazing design for its day, it still has the ability to thrill almost Half a century later....and just like any Car of its age it will require some simple maintenance- Washing occasionally to keep it clean and shiny, and service at regular intervals 30,000 60,000 meters (not miles the wheels are a lot smaller...) to replace parts that fail, fan belt (Elastic Bands) Sump Plug (Bushes) Wheel Barings (Universal Joints) ect. ...don't change the oil!!!
