Intelligent smart watch on a budget
The most noticeable feature is the crisp bright screen. I purchased the black model which has a somewhat stretchy rubber wrist strap that is easy to adjust for a comfortable fit. The magnetic USB charging cable is very easy to use, but isn’t needed too often because the battery has been lasting 10 days before a recharge is needed. It is possible to extend the battery for almost a month if unnecessary features are switched off.
The T-Rex is very well made, but still comes in at an affordable price. Not too many features are sacrificed to save cost. The heart rate monitor has good sensitivity and detects quickly. The watch GPS downloads hints when the watch is synced, enabling the GPS to acquire sats quickly, which is useful for paced exercise scenarios. There is no speaker or microphone, so alerts are strictly vibratory. I have previously worn a Samsung Forester, and I like the T-Rex better because it is lighter and the battery lasts much longer between charges. The companion app has gotten much better. The old Mifit has been replaced by Zepp which looks nicer and and is better organized.
If I were buying again I would compare the T-Rex with Amazfit’s GTR-2, which is little more expensive, and has traditional less outdoorsy styling. Both are great watches for the price. Which one depends on what look you prefer.
