    Great product, HORRIBLE documentation

As far as I can tell this is a great mixer. It has every feature you could want and many more. The iPad control is amazing and makes live performance without a sound operator so much easier. In the little time I've had it I have wandered through the features and controls and spent most of my time wondering how things work, what they do, and how to control them. And there's the problem. There is a "users wiki" which seems to be a mixture of vague instructions for multiple Behringer mixers and multiple software programs for multiple platforms (and various versions of those programs.) Much of the software discussion seems to be about older versions of the software than the ones you actually download. There are a lot of video tutorials that spend more time telling you about how great the features are then actually how to use them (with endless annoying background music!) I have been unable to find ANY manual that covers all the features of this specific mixer. It is really frustrating. I finally found the Behringer users forum - a miasma of information that is buried deep under headings that don't make any sense if you don't already know what the answer is you are looking for. There is a consistent arrogance on the forums that usually takes the form of "that question has been answered elsewhere" without any indication of WHERE that elsewhere is! I guess one of the areas where Behringer saves money to allow for their budget prices is in not hiring technical writers to tell anyone how to operate their equipment.

Decent mixer, cool features, problematic wi-fi

The is a neat little mixer. It's nice to routable 4 AUX outputs on such a small unit. Operation via tablet or laptop is pretty easy and straight forward. The only major issue is that the wi-fi link is very unreliable in areas where there are other networks. I was on a shoot, where I needed to be recording a backup file to the USB drive, and the recorder would stop, every time my tablet lost connection. THIS IS VERY BAD. All of the other settings will persist through a disconnect, or when the mixer is power cycled. Mostly, it's useful for situations in which you do not have to constantly adjust levels.

  • Easy to connect to...MAJOR learning curve understanding set up of apps.

This unit is like new. Seems to be functionally sound. Lots of updates are required. All I/O's respond to inputs. The apps that are available are the Air-XR-16/18 or the Mixing Station app. While both work with the unit....the Mixing Station app is more flexible. It seems to "communicate" better to the XR16. There is a considerable learning curve to the apps. I cannot comment further due to updating software and firmware AND learning the app itself. Update and stay updated.

  • XR16 can do what you need

After a few video's on line, I was able to re-master the X Air series mixer once again. I know there are a few out there who said that there should be some kind of manual, and it might help some of you. I found plenty of on-line support on how-to with these series mixers. I do wish that Behringer had made ch's 9-16 available with Phantom power but no dice. All said and done it's a great compact mixer that performs well in a live situation with your own wireless router.

  • Where are the instructions !?!?! Some type of help!

I find the Behringer X Air XR16 to be the greatest thing since sliced bread however even with my many years of experience as an audio engineer I had trouble with the fact that there are practically no instructions, flow diagrams etc. Thus I had quite a bit of trouble getting discreet fx mixes working properly. But now that I've poured over that for hours I'm back to loving it. Thank goodness for some youtube videos even though NOWHERE was there help for the xr16 unit specifically.

  • Excellent Mixer for Multi-mic Conferences and Meetings

Excellent mixer for conferences. Handles eight XLR mic inputs, eight TRS inputs and four aux outputs, all controlled by a PC, laptop, iPad or smart phone. Mixer has a small footprint so won't take up a lot of valuable space.

  • Behringer X Air 16

I bought the X Air 16 for live sound but I used the X Air 16 as a test for my DJ equipment and what a big improvement it made in the sound and my speakers. Controls all input and output of the sound if you have some knowledge of sound high's, mid's and low's. Now I can set my output and walk to the back of the room and make adjustment with the app on my tablet just like a front house engineer. For DJ's the X Air 12 would do fine. For $250. good deal. A good DJ controller cast about $500.or better. I also hooked up my Alto Professional Stealth Wireless System for DJ PA Powered/Active Speakers, works good. Now I can take just two wires to hook up, from the sub's to the tops. But you would need 2 Alto Professional Stealth Wireless System, one for Input on the X Air and one for output on the X Air, NO MORE WIRES, will maybe for back up.

  • This is my second one, I'm putting in another Church.

With so much good to say I don't know what to start with. Sound was great to start, with so many features per channel. If your a sound person you don't need any other equipment other than powered speakers and microphones. Effects, dynamics, Eq, and multiple processing all built into this unit and wifi to connect to iPad. I LOVE IT ! It just works great!

  • Nice compact board

Nice compact mixer, 4 mix busses, 4 effects, built in wifi is passable but I recommend any decent router upstream. Great for 1-3 person bands,!!33; more get the xr18. This does NOT multitrack record

  • Wish I had done this sooner!

Used it for the first time on stage, worked great! Be sure and research Youtube for the tutorials, they were invaluable resources..Also has made setup SO much quicker, the small footprint is a welcome change on a tight stage. As the drummer and sound guy, I place a laptop on a table to the right of my kit and have no problem making adjustments during a set. I also use a tablet at the band table for whoevers' there and can help with sound check, and make adjustments thru the night. Pay attention to the wi-fi tutorials and secure your network from drops and tampering. Can't beat the price, hope it holds up!
