  • Review for the 96B258 edition. Iconic homage to an iconic watch by an iconic watch brand. Improves on the original!

It's actually a BETTER timepiece than Dave Scott's Bulova backup watch, which was worn on the Moon during an Apollo 15 EVA. (Scott's Omega Spudmaster's crystal is alleged to have fallen out. But seriously, I don't think anybody thinks that's typical for a Speedmaster owner experience.) Of course, it's the "having been on the Moon" part that ratchet's Scott's watch into the $1.6M auction range. This watch is produced in sufficient numbers (and hasn't been on the Moon so that means) that it will never be seven digits "collectible". But that doesn't mean it won't be VALUABLE. It is easily one of the MOST accurate (262.144Khz Quartz Precisionist movement) watches EVER made. Some sources conservatively claim it's within 10 seconds a year. Other sources have put it closer to FIVE, which puts it up in the figurative "thin air" of any timepiece's legacy in terms of accuracy. When the numbers of "units of measurement" begin to get that small, things like your environment or even wearing the silly thing will influence that statistic. At that point, your recalibrating it will have to do more with your own OCD than the watch. (Hi, my name's Megachops.) Own it, enjoy it, and pass it along to someone you love. It's what your Dad did with HIS Bulovas wasn't it?

  • Well made watch but the bracelet is less so

I love the watch, it's very well made and a faithful copy of the 'other' moon watch (other than the movement but that's to be expected since the original had a 'borrowed' Universal Geneve hand winding movement). Despite its size it is very comfortable on the wrist and really doesn't look as big as it is. What prevented me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that, while this watch is available with a stainless steel bracelet as well as a leather strap and a NATO strap with a commemorative patch on it, the bracelet and the straps cannot be interchanged. The holes for the spring bars are in different positions in the watch case for the bracelet than for the straps (I think this may be because Bulova used an 'off the shelf' bracelet. It is different in polish than the case). So, if you decide to buy this, make sure you decide what you want, bracelet or straps since you won't be able to buy a strap watch and then later get a bracelet or, for that matter get a bracelet one and then buy the commemorative strap, the strap is too thick and will not fit (guess how I found that out ).

  • Bulova's modern tribute to the famous moon watch

This Bulova is a modern tribute to the original custom Bulova watch worn unoficially the Apollo 15 mission. Notably, of the watches worn on the mission, only the Bulova kept working. Much of the original styling has been maintained. This watch makes a bold styling statement without being needlessly ostentatious. It is a fairly large watch which looks best on a larger wrist. This watch uses a quartz crystal regulated movement instead of the original tuning fork system. Old school purists might not like the change to an electronic oscillator, but the result is an astonishingly accurate time keeper with reasonable battery life. This watch will likely stay accurate to within one second per month -- without needing to receive any radio or GPS signals.

  • A cool watch with lots of presence

This is a cool watch for all the known reasons including the story. The quality of materials and dial detail are good for the price point. A big talking point is the size. I do have a fairly small wrist of about 6.75" and it does look big. Some would say it's too big for me, some won't. I would say that if your wrist is 7" or bigger, it'll look good. If it's down to 6.5" it might be hard to pull off without looking too big. But it DOES look smaller than the 45mm case size would suggest.

  • The "other" Moon Watch from Bulova

Overall an excellent watch. A++. Bulova does get a Gold Star from this purchaser. Specifications are also above the norm. Accuracy per specification so far is excellent. Attention to detail was perfect with no known defects or problems. Price as compared to other similar watches was very competitive. Very happy with purchase. Definitely recommended to others looking for this type of watch.

  • This is my first Lunar Pilot watch. I’m thoroughly impressed with the build quality. As a space exploration fan and chronograph aficionado, it’s great

This is my first Lunar Pilot watch. I’m thoroughly impressed with the build quality. As a space exploration fan and chronograph aficionado, it’s great to own another piece of NASA history. Three cheers to Bulova and their Archive series! And many thanks to this seller for this listing and the fast shipping!

  • Great watch and value

The Boulova Lunar Pilot is a beautiful watch with a grand herritage. I also own the 'Other Brand Moon Watch' which gets much less wrist time now, being much less accurate (automatic -vs- quartz), and I find the Boulova easier to read and with better lume. The vendor shipped quickly and well packed. I also like the paddle-style chrono pushers, less likely to get abused and easy to operate.

  • Amazing watch. A little big but it doesn't wear big on the wrist. Great value for what you get.

I was looking for a nice automatic but the Bulova caught my eye. Amazing value for what you get and a stunning timepiece. I was reluctant to buy and regretted the purchase before receiving due to the number of comments regarding the size (I have a small wrist). When I received the watch, I couldn't be happier and have no regrets. It wears smaller than the actual size and I am thrilled with the purchase!

  • High quality

Awesome watch. Contrary to what you may read elsewhere, you can fit 3rd party straps to the bracelet version, even with it's drilled lugs being different than the strap version. I've put mind on a silicone strap and a nato and it goes great on both. Bracelet is very high quality as well with no rattles or squeaks. 8 inch (203mm) wrist.

  • Incredibly accurate, stylish and historical!

The watch keeps amazing time. Making my Suunto Traverse Alpha the less accurate of the two and it's synchronized with GPS. It's amazingly accurate. It's very stylish, being a chronograph and yet not over sized as some tend to be. It's perfect. The historical importance of this model makes it an instant conversation piece. This is a good watch for anyone, a absolute must for any aeronautical/space buff.
