    Great addition with some drawbacks

I like it, and if you have a ton of Ryobi tools it's great, but the performance (how hot it gets, how quickly it gets hot, etc) is pretty lacking. I guess it's to be understood for a battery powered heat gun. It's still a great tool to have for things like car audio installations or electrical work.

    Not what I expected

I liked the idea of a cordless heat gun for automotive/motorcycle and electrical use. Bought specifically for heat shrink. So far, it doesn't heat up fast or hot enough to shrink even cheap heat shrink. It feels hot but it seems like nothing is happening. I actually had to use my butane flame tool to complete the job I was doing. The feel and look is nice, uses same batteries as my other tools, I just don't like the idea it isn't working as I expected it to. It's useless if I can't even get it to shrink heat shrink. Which was the sole purpose of purchasing it so I reduced the risk of burning anything or wiring or over melting a heat shrink butt connector.

  • Nice heat gun

Nice Ryobi product that can be ran with 18 volt battery. The heat is a little bit lower at top end then a plug-in model, but it's still good enough to do the job.

  • Not too bad

It heats up really fast , but the fan blows a little too low.base on my heating demands a hair dryer will be much more productive. To remove old labels from packages and other light heating applications you're good.

  • Good Concept. Bad Reality.

It devours batteries. Three minutes of use time per 18-Volt ONE+ Lithium-Ion 4.0 Ah battery makes the product useless. Ryobi's reach exceeds its grasp. Buy a corded unit.

  • Perfect for heating heat shrink tubing.

I solder / shrink-wrap car / boat wires when possible. This heat gun is more convenient than plugging in the 120v heat gun, and I like how it stands up on it's battery so the hot nozzle won't burn or melt anything.
