Replaces incompetent Animal control departments/officers with something that actually does its job.
The local animal control department chose to give the 8 dogs on the street next to mine a free pass regarding roaming at large and then refused to cite the owners for their animal's feces on my front yard (even with high definition video from security cameras...). These devices served to redirect the animals away from my property and back to the area they came from.(Where dog poop now abounds....). Nice to know that the corrupt animal control officers and entire department can be replaced with something that uses rechargeable batteries and a garden hose. (˚ㄥ_˚)

a disapointing spray repellent
I've used Havahart water spray products, successfully, for about 6 years. Deer can be deterred from entering yards. I started with their model 5266, which performed perfectly. I've tried a couple of versions since then, which do not seem as rugged. I decided to purchase a model 5277, assuming Havahart must have managed to make a cheaper unit that is as effective as the model 5266. I was wrong. The most obvious changes are the elimination of a vertical adjustment for the infrared detector, and the deletion of the red light that was used for aiming the detector. The infrared detector does not seem to have the same sensitivity as the earlier version. I don't have the luxury of gambling that the product will deter deer. Critter Ridder's a Real Go Gitter!!!
I was skeptical after trying the Scarecrow motion detecting sprinkler (which was so cheaply made I had to return it twice- broke in the same area both times!) but after seeing Havahart's Critter Ridder in action I am greatly pleased. I had a raccoon leaving his/her droppings in one of my gardens leaving a few large deposits on the mulch before I found the Critter Ridder. I hooked it up using plumbers tape on all the connections to ensure it won't leak and my garden has been coon dropping free for three weeks. If I can afford it, I'll get a second one to keep that pesky critter out of my yard altogether.....AND her little cubs too! Now THAT would be awesome! It would also keep the geese from wandering up the river bank and pooping their way to the front of the house where there are bird feeders. It would be fun to scare THOSE meanies away.....AND their little goslings too! Now THAT would be awesome-er!! I should get a third and have a three point defense system so I can thwart those house invading chipmunks and squirrels. I think a chipmunk got under some siding near the ground and chewed his way through the wood. Now he/she's between the interior and exterior wall. Heard some scratching from the basement yesterday. Too bad I didn't have another Critter Ridder to get rid of the chipmunk.....AND their little kits too! That would be awesome-est!!! Decent sprinkler, good price
The sprinkler works as expected. Assembly was an easy task. The sensor works well. The product is made almost totally of plastic but I haven't broke it yet. There are others out there that appear to be more 'heavy duty' but are also more expensive. This sprinkler fits my 'protected, low traffic' situation nicely. One of the best buys I’ve made for the garden!
I saw a raccoon a few weeks ago eating my strawberries and that’s when I decided to get this pest repellent. It shoots a jet of water for about 2 seconds so the animals get startled and since they don’t like getting wet and the loud noise (not too loud for the neighbors), they think twice before coming back again. It also has help with the cats coming and doing their business in my flower and vegetable beds. It’s a humane way to get rid of these animals, we don’t want to harm them, and this is a very good way to do it. I do have to shut the water off before I turn it off in the morning, try to work my way behind the repellent or waive a broom in front of it—since it has the motion detection feature—and turn it off, otherwise I get soaked😅. Also, if I need to use the hose, there’s water pressure built up, so I turn it on, waive something in front of it a couple of times and then I disconnect the hose. Cats hate it...but...
The device works well at keeping neighbors cats out of our backtard bird sanctuary. However the motion sensor triggers the spray every time a leaf moves in the wind. The sprayer has to be turned off when wind is blowing.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
