Has the capability to undo most bolts with damaged heads.

Had 6 Hi Tensile steel bolts to remove which hadn't been moved for years. Managed to get 4 of them out okay using these bolt grips. The remaining 2 required more drastic action. I should say that the heads of these bolts were a ridiculous choice by the designer. They were the 12 point socket type. These type of heads on carbon steel do not stand up well to corrosion. They are particularly difficult to remove when high torques are used to install them in the first place. When trying to undo them they the heads tend to round off. The heads were 13mm so I used the 14mm bolt grip and hammered it on. Not using too force but enough to ensure the grip will wind itself up on what was left of the bolt head. Being made in America I trusted the product and was not disappointed. Not all branded stuff these days is made where you might think it is.

  • Most critical review

    Criticism Based on Particular Task

To be fair I don't know how good or bad this tool should be in removing frozen bolts from a mower blade. I also ordered wrong size drive. It didn't fit comfortably over the nuts to get enough grip to take them off. However I may be asking too much. I'm sure will come in useful at some future date for different task.

  • Quality product. Job done!

Had a sump plug that was rounded off. It just wasn’t for shifting tried all sorts then saw this online. Lightly hammered one socket on used a spanner on the hex part of the socket and pop plug was loosened first for. I don’t often write reviews, but I’m so pleased with this product I felt I must review it. Five stars.

  • Delivered its promise.

Removed some very damaged motorcycle exhaust studs cleanly after tree other stud extractors had failed. Ability to work in confined space and no moving parts were key! Saved me removing the engine or cylinder head and hacksawing the exhaust off to do it.

  • Sockets great case not so

Sockets are absolutely brilliant - you can really tell the difference between these and the cheaper versions as the sockets are heavier and look a lot better thicker metal . Case is rubbish though , the holes where the sockets sit are too big so as soon as you open the case the sockets fly out a million miles an hour and give you a free work out when you have chase them around the work shop Good tools will probably store them somewhere else tho and throw the case away

  • great kit

thank you i have a 1958 tractor that has had a hard life with a few owners, so some things get a little worn. the sump plug on the alxle was bashed and chewed tried all sorts of sockets and spaners to free it the 16 mm socket was a tight fit little taping to get it on but with a long 45cm bar the sump plug came undone and with out much more damage to the plug. thank you

  • Great but no use on reverse thread :(

If you have a rounded off nut to remove these will certainly do the job but they're no use on a reverse thread :( I had a feeling they wouldn't work for a reverse thread but it was worth a try. Nobody seems to make a set for reverse threaded nuts, which is a shame because it grips really well if I wanted to tighten the thing up some more. I can't help wondering why they didn't make a reversible set to use with a spanner. If anyone knows of any please let me know.

  • Remove old nuts and bolts

If you are a home mechanic, you will need these at some point to remove rounded off bolts. They do exactly what they are supposed to do, and what is more you can buy an extension set of further 5 sizes to go in the same case. A very good buy and I should have brought some years ago.

  • Does as it says!

I bought a 9 year old car a few weeks ago and wanted to remove the sump plug / bolt to change the oil. The problem was someone previously had over tightened the nut which in turn made it hard to remove again specially if they were using possibly a normal spanner instead of the correct socket causing the bolt head to round. It took a while to gently hammer the correct size bolt grip on so not to damage the oil sump but it worked, the rounded bolt came free!

  • How did I live without this product before?

Amazing item, used countless times already for various applications. My only gripe is it's sold as half a kit and you have to buy the expansion set separate to get a complete kit. I wouldn't be without a set of these now, wish I'd known about them years ago.
