Created by Monty Python's Eric Idle and produced by SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE creator Lorne Michaels, this mockumentary contains cameos from Mick Jagger, Paul Simon, Ron Wood, Bill Murray, and even one of the mocked himself, George Harrison. To make the comedy all the more exciting, this version was banned from United States television. Songs include: 'Hold My Hand', 'Number One', 'Love Life', 'Living in Hope', 'Get Up and Go', 'Cheese and Onions', 'Doubleback Alley', and many others. It is not a stretch to say that without THE RUTLES--ALL YOU NEED IS CASH, there might never have been a SPINAL TAP.

    Excellent - glad to have in my collection

    Was always good when originally shown. This has some extra bits that weren't used originally but not many. This is in good condition and plays well. Glad to have in my collection

    A Forgotten Gem

    As far as parodies go this is one of the best. Lots of Beatle references obviously but excellently done. Neill Innes was such a clever talent and should have been a lot more visible on our screens.

    Amusing

    I saw this when it was first aired about 1978. It seemed everybody was talking about the following day. After buying the DVD forty years later I could watch it again. I think you have to be around sixty years old to get all the humour.
