Grandson love as much as mum

Dated and rather frightening. Unsuitable for little children
I'd heard this was a classic children's film but the story had a dark tone from the start.. I did not consider it to be suitable for little children. Too scary. I bought this for our little grandson who is keen on dragons but after viewing the first 30 minutes I decided not to give it to him so it turned out to be a waste of money. Original version great for young and old alike.
I have seen both the original film and the new modern version. The modern version does not live up to this highly entertaining film/musical with animation. Sit back and slip into a child's world where a child's needs are fully taken care of by a giant dragon with pink hair. A young boy escapes the hands of a hill billy family who bought him for fifty dollars with the aid of the dragon he crosses the country until he arrives at Passamaquoddy. Here he finds a home with people who love him. Lots of magic ,comedy and slapstick.
