Shot in faux cinema verite-style with director Rob Reiner as fictional filmmaker Marty DiBergi, the film lampoons just about every rock & roll cliche (not to mention every rockumentary cliche) in the book as it follows these fallen rock idols from one disastrous gig to the next. Scenes of the tour's descent from desperation into total collapse are interspersed with interviews in which the band members delightfully prattle on inanely about the none-too-illustrious history and dubious vision of Spinal Tap. THIS IS SPINAL TAP is a striking and acutely hysterical directorial debut for Reiner and a deserved cult classic. Watch for an endless array of cameos by wonderful comic character actors along the way.

    One of my favourites

    This is a favourite of mine. I finally got round to replacing my old VHS copy but this version had special features on it. I love this film and I definitely appreciate it more now that I am older.

    Not great

    The film was not great, it seemed way more entertaining 20 years ago but today it drew hardly and laughs and was not enjoyable. However, the dvd quality was good (no freezing issues and scratches) but the contents were not.

    One of the funniest films of all time!

    Number 2 in Empire magazines top 50 comedy films and rightly so. Hadn't seen it for about 10 years, really enjoyed revisiting it. If you like comedy and rock (not the Grumbleweeds obviously!) then it's a must. This is the anniversary edition with a bonus DVD of extras which I'm really looking forward to!
