Past and future
Two good specials you've got the origin story of Goku his father Bardock and the story of Trunks Goku's story is told in the past when the saiyan race is still alive it focuses on his father Bardock and how planet Vegeta was destroyed along with the saiyan race. Trunks story is told in a future where Goku is dead and so are all the other Z fighters it's up to Gohan and Trunks to take down the bloodthirsty androids.
