A cult film in its native Japan, PINOCCHIO 964 stretched the boundaries of the cyberpunk horror film established by TETSUO: THE IRON MAN. Pinocchio is a sex cyborg cast out by his owners into the world. Wandering aimlessly, he comes across derelict Himiko, and together they try to eke out an existence for themselves. But Pinocchio's creators are loath to let him drift and risk capture, and so seek him out to destroy him. Shozin Fukui, who was an assistant on TETSUO, explores the concepts of bodily invasion and the relationship between man and machine like a Japanese David Cronenberg. The film oscillates between static calm and explosive violence emphasized by reeling camerawork and editing, mirroring the slow unraveling undergone by its protagonist.

Building my collection one disc at a time
In the modern age of streaming it is so hard to find Japanese Cyberpunk films at a reasonable price let alone factory sealed. Thank you!!! Hoping I can track down the rest of the films from this movement as well.

Just insanity
A nearly incomprehensible retelling of Pinocchio. This movie is absolutely manic and amazing, with a jaw dropping ending. I cannot recommend it enough.
