About this product

Product Information

Pokémon: FireRed and Pokémon: LeafGreen return longtime trainers to the land of Kanto, which was featured in the original Pokémon: Red and Pokémon: Blue. Here, they'll collect new pocket monsters, uncover new secrets, and put a stop to another of Team Rocket's greedy schemes. Like earlier Game Boy editions, this autumn 2004 episode in the life-sim role-playing series is available in two slightly different versions. Both FireRed and LeafGreen take place in the same game world and follow the same storyline, but certain Pokémon are found more or less frequently in either version.

Gameplay involves exploring the various regions of Kanto and engaging in Pokémon battles with other characters, who may offer information, items, or advancement when defeated. Players can also hunt through the countryside, in hopes of finding and capturing rare wild Pokémon that may live there. Pokémon collected in FireRed or LeafGreen can be traded among the immediately previous Ruby and Sapphire versions of the game, and with the GameCube's Pokémon Colosseum.

Of special note is a piece of hardware that comes bundled with all original retail copies of Pokémon: FireRed and LeafGreen: the Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter. In games that support the accessory, it allows chat functions and other link cable-type connectivity, without any of the cables. If players visit certain community areas in the Pokémon: FireRed or LeafGreen, for example, they'll be able to meet and send wireless messages to other players who are sitting nearby. As many as 40 Pokémon players can share these virtual environments at the same time, and chat rooms can accommodate as many as five "buddy" players at once.

    Can't Transfer

The Game is really great, However I am unable to transfer the Pokémon to any Generation 4 Games. (Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver) Now I could bypass this by trading to another Generation 3 Game, and then transferring, But this is still a pain. Don't get me wrong, the other 99.99% of this game is still great.

Classic game, Only worth it if you can find it for a good price.

it's a fun remake of the generation one pokemon games and was my first game in the franchise. Is it the best game in the series? probably not, but it is a fun game and is probably worth grabbing if you can find it for a decent price.

Price is fine for a re-cart, but the physical game cartridge is kinda poor quality. The two plastic clamshells that hold the PCB board do not fit together cleanly and required unscrewing, sanding, and then putting it back together to get the cartridge to fit in my gameboy. The cart DOES work, so minor problem overall.

  • Pokemon Generation Three

Back in the day I’ve repeatedly played the first two generations of Pokémon and by that time I got all burnt out playing Pokémon games. It was a steal to buy all the third generation Pokémon games all at once. What really made my day is that all the games came in a plastic case to protect the games themselves and the save feature still worked on all these games. I am so looking forward to playing out on what I missed back in 2002-2003!!

  • Pokemon Classic Remade! Even better!

I love the original Pokemon games. The remakes Fire Red and Leaf Green, do a fantastic job on recapturing the classic feel of the originals. New islands, minigames, the Verses Seeker and a great graphical upgrade. I recommend this game to any Pokemon fan.

  • Be the Best by Playing the Best!

When you get a legit copy of this game then it is one of the best of all time! Who wouldn't want to play the first generation of Pokemon with updated graphics, battle mechanics, and a freaking run button!!!

  • Awesome product!

Very cool and modern cases to go on my old games. The gameboy advance cases are a little beefier than the gb or gbc ones, and are not fully black either.

  • Game is a classic

The game brings me back. Although it is a remake of the first generation, it was the best format of the game at its time! These games made pokemon what it is today.

  • Works great

I got this to play on my original Advance. Once it arrives, I put it in and it booted right up. The battery in the cart works just fine and as such games save without a problem.

  • A must-have for any Pokemon fan!

I have played through Pokémon LeafGreen, and both versions are excellent! I have not (yet) played the first generation games, but anyone who has should be able to appreciate these remakes of them. Even if you have not played the original games, you should get FireRed or LeafGreen, because they are absolutely worth it. The graphics look very nice (though the battle sprites would be better with animations), and the game consistently runs at 60 frames per second, and the sound/music is excellent. These games also give you a chance to catch the Pokémon that were in the Gen 1 games and transfer them to later generations as well. Whether you are a casual or competitive player, FireRed (and LeafGreen) are definitely essentials for any true fan of the Pokémon games! However, you should be careful before buying these games, because MANY fraudulent cartridges have been popping up. The one I purchased is indeed legitimate, and you can often tell by looking at the label. Fake cartridges usually have these giveaways: the ESRB letter is not as bold, the Nintendo logo has the wrong font, the Nintendo seal is incorrect, the background looks different, or there are no stamped letters and numbers on the label. I absolutely recommend this game to anyone who likes to play Pokémon games, including those who are new to them!
