Roger Waters says "When we recorded the essential parts of the songs for the album" Lockdown Sessions ", the 50th anniversary of the release of The Dark Side of the Moon loomed on the horizon". It occurred to me that The Dark Side of the Moon could be a suitable candidate for such reworking, in part as a tribute to original work, but also to regain the political and emotional message of the entire album. I discussed with Gus and Sean, and when we stopped gathering and shouting "you must be fucking" one with the other, we decided to face it. He turned out to be really fantastic and I am enthusiastic that everyone listen to him. It is not a substitute for the original which, of course, is irreplaceable. But it is a way for the man of seventy -nine years of looking back through the fifty year.

Interesting document.
This is not a substitute for the original album. It is a deeply personal document by Roger Waters cogitating on various things. There are a lot of spoken word passages which require concentration. It took me a couple of listens to get into but now I really like it.
