    The Lavender Hill Mob

    An early post war (1951) film starring Alec Guinness and Stanley Holloway with Sid James and Alfie Bass, an ingenious plot by mild mannered bank clerk Holland played by Alec Guinness to rob the bullion delivery van he rides. It is interesting to see the old London as was, complete with recent bomb damage from the war. The screenplay is well written and as with crime capers of the time, they aren't allowed to totally get away with the crime.
