    A highly entertaining and amusing DVD. I strongly recommend it.

    This is a very entertaining DVD consisting of the ten episodes of the first series of the BBC programme "Shakespeare and Hathaway: Private Investigators". Despite the rather inept naming of the protagonists, there is a very strong cast with highly amusing interaction between Jo Joyner, Mark Benton and Patrick Walshe McBride. The stories, although somewhat improbable, are well crafted and enhanced by the presence of actors of the stature of Timothy West. An additional bonus is the setting of the episodes in the picturesque town of Stratford-upon-Avon and its immediate environment. It is also so refreshing to watch a crime series from the BBC which, unlike such cognate dramas as "The Tourist" and "Spiral", is free of gratuitous violence, incessant moronic swearing and obscenity.
