  • Cilka’s Journey. A remarkable story of survival., beautifully written.

A very moving story of unimaginable suffering for a girl of sixteen. She does what she has to do to stay alive only to be punished by the Russians who liberated her. Yet for all that she makes friends and is taken under the wing of Dr Yelena who sees in her a young woman of intelligence and spirit with a fierce will to live. At last Cilka is set free and as she scrambles to board the train to Moscow a man falls and she holds out her to help him and it’s Alexandr. She has rescued him and they will spend the rest of their lives devoted to one another as husband and wife.

  • Tragedy

What a tragic yet determined story. After reading the Tattooist of Auchwitz, and first meeting Cilka, then the relief of her liberation for a few short days, before being herded once again on a cattle truck, treated just as badly all over again and being transported and humiliated in a Russian labour camp for being a German collaborator, along with hundreds of other women and men. Her brave story of how she survived this is truly harrowing. But deserves to be read.

  • Interesting, true story that should never have happened.

Cilkas journey is a story about her experience in the concentration camps. What they all went through should never have happened, but it did, and we should all learn from it! It’s the 2nd book out of three from the tattooist of Auschwitz, and three sisters!

  • The outer cover was quite rough, and would label as good, not very good, but fabulous story and one to read.

  • Underwhelming

The writer has her agenda and it can be clear to see which story she wanted to really tell. If you're looking for a concentration camp book. Look elsewhere

  • A must read.

This book follows on from "The Tattooist of Auschwitz". My advice is read that book first, then read this one. The new film about the Tattooist turns the book into more of a love story. The book puts you there in camp with the real reality of how it was.
