  • Really Great Alternate to SM7B!

Listen folks, if you want a good "workhorse" broadcast quality dynamic mic in your cabinet, and can't quite afford the Shure SM7B, Presonus's PD-70 is a great substitute (if not quite a clone), even in acoustically unfriendly spaces. The cardioid pickup pattern reduces the amount of extraneous and unwanted background noise entering the mic’s sides and back while focusing on voices in front of it—just what you want for podcasts or radio broadcasts, just like the SM7. But it also excels as a vocal mic, I've had great results using it on snare, kick drum, acoustic instruments, etc. Cheap enough to keep a pair on hand for...whatever. You will NOT regret it. Budrocket says CHECK IT OUT ;)

  • Great all around utility mic at a good price.

Great utility microphone! I have used it for vocals and a 15 watt tube guitar amp so far, and its great. Might need to get another one. The mic feels solid and well made, look forward to having this for a long time.

  • Great value because it looks and sounds great.

Pretty great out of the box sound. I have to use a cloud lifter for signal boost, but that's common with broadcast mics and I have one for my RE320. The PD70 has more high end and detail than the RE320, and it's way crispier than a SM7, but there it might be a little harsh on some vocals. For something where there's a lot going on in the mix it cuts through nicely, and that's where it works best with my voice. It's not too big and the balance of it clipped on the mic stand is nice so it's easily positionable. Sharp looking and tidy in the studio to leave on for quick demo takes, which suits this old hobbyist nicely.

  • Great microphone for the price.

Great microphone with a great price..Sounds much better than other microphone I have..Does not require a cloud lifter, Like other higher priced microphone. Have a Focusrite solo audio interface I am using with it.

  • Nice

My personal preference on the PreSonus PD-70 is a great sounding microphone and just enuff highs and perfect bottom end in my opinion and I'm very choosey in sound.
