Hammerite Direct To Rust Paint
I have used hammerite paints for more than 40 years now. This particular type of hammerite paint is good and remains adhered to rusty items longer than other paints. It is probably one of the best paints available for painting rusty components, and the finish is hard and durable. Good glossy finish.
After removing flakey rust, paints on to rusty areas. Need to stir the paint after a while, as it tends to thicken. Clean the brush after use, as soon as possible, with white spirits or similar.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Follow the instructions on the can and you can't go wrong. This paint gives a superb professional looking finish which should last for many years. Ideal for most metals, for example tools, fences, metal garden items such as ornaments, chairs, tables, lawn mowers etc. Parts of cars such as in the engine compartment, in the boot, where a hammer finish would be acceptable. Hammerite has always been my preferred choice for any heavy duty metal painting. The paint is of superior quality with good adhesion and longevity. It will provide a quality finish and superb protection against all elements. May be a little more costly than the competition but in my experience this is negated by the fact that coverage is good and a couple of coats will last years. Top clas, top paint.
I have used the product before so I had a job come and purchased some more. I had derusted a large weather van. I coated with the product and went back 5 hours later and applied a further coat. the result is stunning and there is a sort of flecked sheen on the metal. By the way, I used this product on some black painted iron gates 5 years ago and gates are a little weathered but no rust! Good Paint, If outside better when a little warmer
This is the stuff. I always use this for all my outside metal jobs. Most metals just need a quick wire brush, dust off then paint. Works better in warmer weather and with a helpful friend (Luke 10:2) Quick tip - if you are painting a large area like railings - would take a long time, so purchase the Spray version instead!
