Optimate Duo 1 - improving a reliable brand
Bought to replace an earlier Optimate that I'd had for over 10 years which was no longer working properly in the final testing phase. This new version worked perfectly and confirmed a couple of batteries were fine saving me money in unnecessarily replacing batteries that were in a good state. Handy, low-price battery charger
Really useful kit to have in your bike garage. Keeps the battery topped up during those months when you might not ride it so much. Simple to use and to fit the quick-fit cable. I zipped-tied mine to the rear subframe near below the battery. Handy croc clips so you can fit to other bikes too. Super versatile
This is a top product, so simple to setup and use, plus it is very versatile being able to charge and maintain a wide variety of battery types. I especially like this for my bike as I can attach the cable to the battery and tuck the fully sealed lead into the tail tidy - then all I need to do is unlock the tail tidy and plug it into the charge leads. Effective kit
I've been using Optimates since their release and having the dual purpose model made perfect sense to keep up with advances in battery technology. The unit is very compact and comes with all connectors/cabling required. It took a couple of minutes to secure to the wall, another couple to connect to my battery and has functioned perfectly ever since. Good batteries are expensive and keeping them in top condition extends their life, resulting in a bike that always starts and a battery that will not require replacement, with the attendant expense. I regard Optimates as a necessity not a luxury and know, from personal experience, that these units last for years without any trouble whatsoever. Buy one and ensure reliable starting regardless of temperature/weather/climate. I didn’t have a lithium battery charger. Used this opitmate to charge a new car battery that’s lithium rather than the usual acid battery. It’s only a trickle charger but it worked well Simple to use with good quality leads and disconnecting plug you can leave permanently on the car. Lights on charger tell you what’s happening. Handy little charger. Works on my Lithium Ion battery
Got this to keep my lithium ion battery topped up over this quarantine period. Easy to setup and get charging. Just two minor criticisms: 1) it doesn’t have a numerical display to tell you current battery voltage. Just some icons to let you know what it’s doing 2) the connector lead to fix to your battery terminals has a large fuse box in the middle. excellent value with all the necessary features
Good value top quality as are all Optimates I have bought over the uears does everything especially Lithium batteries which are susceptable to voltage variations so the charger has to be capable of only charging upto a certain voltage otherwise Lithium batteries can be seriously damaged .
