Good hose reel
Exactly what I needed: I had lots of hose, but needed an empty hose reel as the old one got wrenched from the wall. I'm taking off a star because of all the packaging, and some unfathomable bits of plastic which didn't seem to do anything, and the installation instructions seem to have been designed for another product entirely: eventually I threw them away and followed my nose.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Disappointing from the market leaders. Not strong and cheap fittings.
I thought I'd try hozelock as they're the market leader and this was a good price. I've not bought Hozelock for years because their fittings are very expensive, and not much better than competitors. As soon as I opened the box, two tiny aligning pegs had already sheared. They are pointlessly flimsy. However, this did not affect the overall structure. But. The screws and plugs supplied are too narrow and very cheap. The hose immediately pulled of the wall. I fixed this by using my own fittings. The round panel alignment is not thought out at all well; it makes fitting the hose very awkward. And the hose reel hangs precariously on three holes (again, flexing. The plastic needs to be a lot thicker. Unfortunately, the description is inaccurate too. It will only take 30m of 12mm hose (20m of 15mm standard hose). However, even with 30m of 12mm on the reel, it feels overloaded. The hose guide is badly designed (see above - already broken in transit); pretty flimsy with the same cheap screws and fittings. Overall, the plastic flexes and I have no doubt I'll have to replace this in a couple of years. Unfortunately, back to competitors next time round.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

My original Hozelock reel was worn out so needed to buy a direct replacement. The price was excellent compared to other suppliers and it arrived on time well packaged. . Good quality Product.
Despite other comments - the quality is good. No written instructions - only pictures which need studying a few times! You need to be handy with hammer drills etc. Better to have 2 people on the job even if there is a need to swear at somebody!! Once the job is underway it seems to just flow (pardon the pun). As I was drilling into brick I did not use the rawlplugs provided, I used 'butterfly' ones. The screws are not easy to put in place but with patience I managed.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Decent quality at a reasonable price.
My previews wall mounted Hozelock hose reel lasted for a decade hanged on the wall all year round exposed in the Yorkshire climate. I had to replace it as the wall detachable brackets failed and the drum inlet started to leak. The replacement has some crucial improvements; there are now two versions, a wall-mounted or a portable one. This makes sense to me as you no longer risk damaging the wall-mounted reel by yanking it off the wall and break the detachable bracket as it happened with my old one. As far as I can see the quality of the fittings and the overall construction appear identical if not better than the old one. The drum can house comfortably 30m of hose and it is sturdy enough to withstand domestic garden use (my mate uses the portable version for commercial landscaping without any issues either). The supplied wall fixings are also adequate. I found the instructions clear as well. If you fit the hose as indicated, there is little chance of getting kinks on the hose. One small improvement I did was to add the anti-kink spring from the old reel inside the other end of the hose, before fitting the connector for the garden sprayer. Overall I am happy with this purchase and I am confident that this reel will last me at least as long as the old one.

Buy this simple but effective hosereel - high tech is not always reliable.
I bought this low technology product to replace a 6 month old "automatic" one. The rewind mechanism kept jamming. Finally using a hammer ( in a John Cleese moment ) I could see that the inside of the product was unnecessarily overcomplicated. The new hosereel was priced about right and delivered as promised. It. It is light weight yet strong , easy to assemble and have 3 fixing points, easy to fix to the walls mortar joints. In use, the manual rewind works a treat.
