Good unit
Purchased the MEACO DD8L unit to dehumidify our recently renovated cellar. It's a substantial task; it's quite big and very damp. I ran it continuously for about a week, which eliminated condensation build up on the new joists & the PIR insulation. Excellent result, especially as the RH value in the cellar is around 80-90%. The only issue we have with the device is the timer - you can't set it to switch on at a given time, for a given duration. If you programme it to stop, it won't restart again without manual intervention. For this application, where you want the device to run for weeks without attention (the unit would drain into the pre-existing sump pump), this is a drawback. This is a pity because in every other way, the unit is faultless. My remedy was to not set a timer, but rely on the unit to stop when the drain bucket is full. This works OK, but it means I'm down the cellar every day to empty out and restart. You can't use a timer on the power feed either, because the unit requires a manual button-push to restart once the power is re-established. None of this is a problem if the unit is in easy reach, living room, hall etc - but it's in the cellar and I don't like going down there!!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Very effective
We bought this product to use in an old bungalow that we are renovating for our retirement. Because it is empty, we have had to use the central heating to dry paint, and stop damp from forming. This was expensive. This dehumidifier has changed that. The water it removes is amazing. The timer makes it easy to switch on and off without having to do it manually (a big plus when we don’t live there). The house no longer smells damp, and the electricity used is much cheaper than the less effective central heating. I found the instructions a bit confusing but that’s probably because there are so many features. It seems quite noisy, but may not be as noticeable in a furnished home. Frustrating
