Efficient and reliable.
Great value smoke alarm. I have had one of these for 2.5 years it developed a fault. I contacted BRK who gave some advice which did not rectify the issue. BRK no hesitation posted out a free replacement which I was not expecting due to the time scale. I purchased another in the meantime which I will keep for another property. Not a good replacement for model BRK 86Race
I bought this to replace my old BRK 86 race . I’ll never understand why these designers take a really good design and replace it with their idea , which is not as good , just for the sake of it . There is no improvement only more work for the installer trying to make it fit where the old one was . The main problem is the plug , which was small on the original one and fitted inside the extension box . On the new one it’s larger and you have to make the hole in the ceiling bigger to accommodate the plug as there is no extension box supplied . This would normally be a simple job if you were just dealing with a plasterboard ceiling , but what about if the builders had conveniently placed a wooden joist right where you need the hole to be ? Not a simple replacement job so , therefore , I wouldn’t recommend it.

Good value product.
This was a direct replacement for an old one past its use by date. Fitted in a minutes. The unit has 10 years life so I am very pleased. The only downside on these units is that to replace the battery you need to take it down and then use a screwdriver to open the battery compartment.
