Nice unit good price

Good Starter Station
I am a bit of a wx nut so have a number of weather stations. This is relatively unsophisticated, but has some nice features such as forecasting. This would be a good starter station. Acurite Weather Center
I have had a Acurite weater center for years. Seeing the many color display units on the market I decided to buy one. It was not a Acurite brand. One of the features I really liked was that I could plug it in and I could see it while in bed, not having to get up to press a button for the light to come on. It worked perfect for about 3 weeks and then one day I noticed the outside temp was not showing. I had installed the batteries that came in the box so I figured it was the batteries. I replaced them with a brand I trust. The outside temp still did not show. I followed all the instructions and in the end I did get the outside temp to show for 5 minutes then it started showing and then going back off. I took it back to the place I bought it from. What does all this ave to do with this Acurite weather center? I bought this unit based on the experience I have had with the other unit it is replacing. I am sure the other one is 5 or more years old. The outside sender looks weathered and old, but it still works. The outside sender that came with this one looks exactly the same, in fact when I plugged the new unit in I had not turned off the old sender an immediately I had outside temperatures from the old sender. I have since replaced the old sender with the new one. I will be giving the old unit to a friend who could use an indoor outdoor weather center. Here is something else. The other color unit had a button you pushed to change the brightness of the screen, This one does it automaticly. I have not had it for years so I can not tell you it will last for years, but based on my experience with the other unit, I expect it will be around for a while.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

slightly disappointed in the accuracy of this product
Hello, the accuracy of the indoor temperature is off. I compared it to another high a quality thermometer and it reads 2 to 3 degrees high? This is a disappointment. Outside readings totally INACCURATE
