This is a hassle-free solution for owners of CAN-bus equipped BMW bikes (e.g. K1200GT, K1200R, K1200S, R1200GS, R1200RT, R1200ST, F800S, F800ST, F800GS etc.) to charge via the 12V power socket. This model can also be used in normal mode with other bikes and cars using the supplied clamp lead. NB the O1 eyelet lead is not included in this package as it is assumed the O9 lead will normally be used. • For all 12V powersport battery types including lead acid (Pb), STD (with filler caps), AGM, GEL (sealed VRLA) and Li-Ion made .

Does exactly what it says on the box - with zero hassle
Needed a CAN-bus charger for a brand new BMW motorcycle being delivered. Optimate is my first choice, as I use their other products for vintage and current model vehicles. I have many years experience of Optimates as a satisfied customer but bike electrical systems have moved on and it was time to update my charger to suit CAN-bus technology. The CAN-bus Optimate 4 was easy to fix to my garage wall - and it has the BMW compatible connection plug that is a good fit onto the bike. The box contained all I needed apart from 4 screws to mount it onto the garage wall (which I had anyway). No fuss - plug and play operation - gives you comfort that your battery will be in tip top condition every time you turn the ignition key on. Waste of money for BMW bikes
Optimate Bmw canbus charger is NOT suitable for BMW motorcycles as they use lithium ion batteries which this charger is unsuitable for. Google a battery charger for your bmw bike and Tayna’s advert for this battery charger comes up. £75 down the pan as I had to return it via EVRI who attempted return on a Sunday when TAYNA was closed and now it’s lost. It's plug and go and does all you need.
It is easy to use and offers well needed options. I phoned the company to find out how to use it, mind. After reading the manual twice, I still wasn't sure. Just plug it in! It's that simple. I can't say about the quality yet obviously. Might come back next year to tell. Update January 2023: it has been keeping my motobike's battery healthy over winter since I purchased it in 2018. Happy to part with my money
Returning from a business trip, I found my bike battery totally drained. It was so flat I couldn't use the BMW din socket.
