The m100 PDA is an entry-level, consumer-friendly pocket computer from Palm Computing, a company known for producing palm device accessories. With an impressive 2MB of RAM and running a 16 MHz EZ Dragonball, this device can handle your organizational needs to help you keep your business or personal plans on task.An example of one of the many features of the m100 is the included flip cover. This plastic shield can rotate around and lie flat on the rear of the device. There is also a small cutout that allows for quick and easy viewing of the time and date, activated by depressing the scroll button. This button is easily accessible via an opening at the foot of the cover. This function will cause the m100 to power on, display the current date and time for approximately three seconds, and power off once again in order to conserve the power of the two AAA batteries.Other than the detachable flip cover, users may also remove the entire faceplate. Found in the uppermost left corner of the m100 is an Infra Red port. This port may be utilized whether the flip protector is open or shut. Beaming data between other Palm devices and accessories is a breeze and works effectively over a substantial distance.The m100 features a similar application toggle layout as other models with four app buttons and the directional scroll buttons. For ease of use, the up and down selector buttons are separated and enlarged. For those who enjoy gaming, the separate buttons are a definite bonus. Application buttons on this model are domed rather than concave and exhibit great tactile response when pressing them. This is also true of the up and down buttons. The power toggle is situated in the top center of the unit conveniently located away from the other buttons.The Palm m100 uses an LCD display screen that lets you clearly see your lists, applications, and important data. The incredibly crisp screen is constructed of plastic instead of glass, which means it will withstand drops and rough handling no matter where your device goes. The 160 by 160-pixel display has very tight DPI, making the resolution seem much higher. The rear of the PDA unit houses the battery access, reset switch, stylus storage, and hot sync port. The stylus silo is accessible with the cover open or closed. The stylus itself is a classic, all-plastic tool with no hidden reset pin. Being bigger in diameter than previous models, this version is much more ergonomic and comfortable to use.In the software department, the m100 offers similar options as previous Palm devices with a few new additions. This featured Notepad application is linked to the right hardware button. This app allows the user to write a note on the screen without the need to use Graffiti and is automatically time and date stamped. Categorizing and associating each individual note with an alarm is also an option.
