Topdon Artidiag 800 BT
I was looking for midrange diagnostic tool, many different brands and options available. My choice of Topdon Artidiag 800 BT mainly because this tool comes with a free lifetime updates. Apart from that VCI connect via Bluetooth so no worries about messy wiring, good battery life, plus unit just the right size - it has a good size touchscreen and at the same time not too big so you can keep it in the car with you, comes with a nice carrying case. Test it on my Mercedes, it picked up a few fault codes that I could not see with another diagnostic tool. Very easy to use, automatic VIN recognition, worked on Mercedes, BMW, Mitsubishi, VW, Skoda, Kia. There is no bidirectional commands on this scanner, but you can get around that using live data monitoring if you need to see some data on modules and switches. In this price range this diagnostic scanner is a clear vinner.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

When it does find an error and you need more info it searches Google but finds nothing. A little help talking to the brains of a car.
I am not part of a garage, I am only a Dad who looks after his kids cars, mainly to keep costs down. However, my son has a Golf and I needed to replace his rear brake pads and discs, but it is obvious that you need to talk to the "black box' to undertake repair and maintenance work. I decided to opt for the Topdon. It is not cheap, but I was very surprised at the information provided by or through the Topdon unit. My first task was to release the park brake and this was easy.
