Film of substance
Very nice film. No unnecessary gimmicks of today that push the film on you - just a good piece of filmmaking. Even though I like this newer version a lot - the original 1939 version, colorized, is # 1. For that period , everything is superb ! The cast, the acting, the storyline, snappy dialog with wit, satire, humor and romance - A True Masterpiece ! Get both versions if you can - you will not be disappointed ! !

Great old classic
June Allyson and David Niven are great in the lead rolls and the supporting cast keeps you smiling as well. Funny, engaging and entertaining - what else could you want? The only drawback for this DVD is no captions or subtitles - but if you're not too hard of hearing it's not too difficult to understand. Give it a go!

glossy remake of screwball comedy
This remake is very glossy in colour and cinemascope it is a very pleasant sophisticated film where the 1936 version was a screwball comedy the cast is very good in their roles the colour print was not the best the film needs to be remastered .
