Thought provoking and entertaining
Very interesting show. Well rounded characters. Quite relevant themes for today's world even if it is set in the late thirties. I can see why it would have made some people uncomfortable with it's comments on racism, politics and police brutality. Enjoyed Dormer's portrayal of different characters. She's a more talented actress than I had previously thought. I thought everyone was very good in this. Penny Dreadful Penny Great Watching
Although this latest series of Penny Dreadful is nothing like the origiinal, it is a period piece set in Los Angeles pre-WW2 or rather America's involvement in it but mixing in the Mexicans, city politics, two police detectives, Nazi infiltrators, Jewish community, a hint of the local mafia and some loas from the Mexican religion (mostly played by the talented Natalie Dorma) stirred into the mix.
