Cobra Marine handheld VHF RADIO HH600E
Probably the best value VHF radio on the market. Easy to use, packed with great features including Bluetooth to connect your mobile. A DSC button to automatically transmit a distress signal complete with GPS coordinates. A choice of 1, 3, or 6 watts power. My favorite feature is the spare rear case that doubles as a back up battery when fitted with AA alkaline batteries. Piece of junk!!
I had been considering a VHF handheld radio/GPS for some time, as a safety measure while dinghy sailing and as a backup on larger boats. The Cobra HH600E was recommended to me by a sailing colleague. However, I have to say that the radio turned out to be a piece of junk. As a radio, it was fine, and the DSC function appeared to work OK, but the GPS was a different matter. Not only did it not correctly indicate the distance to a waypoint (as checked with a chart), but the direction to steer was way off, sometimes by as much as 70 degrees. When the distributor contacted the manufacturer, I was advised there was a software upgrade available. However, but that time I had missed taking the radio on two week-long sailing trips, and I had completely lost confidence in Cobra products, since it seemed clear that they don't bother to test their products before releasing them. I will NEVER use another Cobra product on my boat.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
