Grandaughter wanted this and nothing else would do.
The house was in new condition but the chandelier did not work. We put this together Christmas eve so it would be assembled for Christmas morning. Everything was in order except for that. All other parts worked as they should. She has a friend that had this so she knew everything about its features. It was just a little disappointing that we paid so much for this as it was no longer available as a current model and then a piece failed to function right out of the box. The second day the insert on the bottom of the elevator that holds the string in place broke and I glued it in so that it would continue to work. It is typical of the Barbie house line in that it is all plastic. My granddaughter has another Doll house constructed of wood that we actually paid less for and is a much better product. Were it not for the fact that this six year old wanted this one we would not have purchased it. So you please a child and spend a little more than is necessary but she is happy.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

bad design
This house is super hard to figure out how to thread the ropes to the elevator in a most convoluted way. I have put together many Barbie Houses and doll houses, but never got totally stumped by a house before. I am a college graduate and all they showed in the instructions were a few short sentences and little pictures to show where the ropes should go. It would have been better to have had more written instructions. The other bad thing about this house was trying to take it apart for shipping. You have to break a few pieces to get it apart. The one I got on ebay had been broken and another seller could not mail me the item because it had been broken when he tried to take it down. I kept the one I got and used it anyway as a kit bash project so that was o.k. But if you want to buy one they cost too much for what you get. The newer 2015 dreamhouse townhouse with the garage was a breeze to put together and had a very nice elevator,too The new 2015 dream houses can still be bought directly from Mattel and other major stores and it is bigger, and easier to put together.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great girl gift
My 5 year old daughter had this exact doll house picture on a wish list to Santa that they made at school. I found it on Ebay without any problems and paid a nice price for it, cheaper than the price on the magazine picture my daughter had.
