Works most of the time - easy to set up

Although this powerline adapter can clone an existing wifi, I found that the device was easy to set up if I was happy with a different wifi address in another part of my house. This makes sense because I have a long thin house and I can see which source is the strongest and choose that one. It also lets me provide guest wifi in my kitchen. The set up was fairly straightforward. The only difficulty was finding the correct pairing button because TP Link put them in a different place on every device. This one is hidden on the bottom. One negative - this device also has a LAN port on the bottom. That is just not going to work when the powersocket is low on the floor or above a worktop

    TP Stinks

Don't buy this product, waste of money, difficult to set up, hasn't really worked since purchase. I've bought several TP- Link products over several years, older products worked straight out of the box, newer versions not impressed!

  • Wifi in The Garden Room

We recently constructed a Garden Room, some distance from the house. The WiFi signal from the house outside was hit and miss. The house uses a BT system with Powerline extenders. I chose the TP-Link hoping it would pick up the Powerlink via the power socket in the Garden Room. Initial set up was easy, plug and play, however it was using the SSID of the manufacturer not the BT system. To make life easier and have a common log in, I changed the SSID to match BT system using the utility software which can be downloaded. Now I have good signal coverage around the house and Garden Room without dropping connection for Whats App or Skype. Being white it also blends in nicely.

  • Excellent add on to existing powerline extenders.

I bought this to connect our other powerline extenders. Our Sky hub has very poor wifi but the powerline arrangement is great. I needed another to get wifi onto a garden studio. Although this was refurbished, it came quickly, plugged in and worked straight off, with no problems. It was a good price and arrived faster than I expected a. We now have ultrafast speeds over wifif where we need it.

  • TP link wifi extender

Bought to boost signal in loft conversion as the TV in my loft bedroom struggled at times with streaming HD content despite Internet browsing being perfectly fine. I would have preferred to use a wired powerline adapter plugged directly into the TV but in the socket I wanted to use none of these powerline adapters worked at all which I suspect has something to do with the wiring in my house as these adapters worked in every other socket. Anyway, streaming HD content both using iplayer and plex media server works fine and is noticeably faster than previously. I would recommend any of this product range as they really are easy to set up and do make all the difference particularly if you have media server running with very high quality content. Not tested with 4K content, 1080p only.

This was a V.1 version, one of the very first produced so the interface was very different to my newish V.4 - although the I had difficulty to get the network to "see" this homeplug, the solution was to update the firmware (be sure to get the right version) on this homeplug and install the latest TP-Link Utility to the PC - sets up like a dream thereafter. Works well and is stable.

  • Easy way of extending your wifi

My house has wide stone walls, so even the latest Home Hub which has strong wifi couldn't get a reliable signal through from one end to the other. I bought a pair of these to start with, one that goes near the router (hub) and one furthest away ( just plug it into a wall socket). But that left me with a weak signal in the middle of the house so I bought this one. They 'clone' the the hub's log in details at the press of a button & seamlessly extend the signal throughout the house using the ring main. Brilliant!

  • Good wifi extender

I bought this to pair with an existing TP Link AV 1200 gigabit converter and extender pair to create an additional wifi hotspot because TP were still not selling separate extra AV 1200 extenders. They use the same protocol so it paired up and cloned with them effortlessly and works very well. Note that to do the cloning you have to connect a laptop to the extender by ethernet cable and run the mini CD disk that comes with the extender on it to open up the management programme and change its SSID and password to those of the network you want to clone it with. If you try to do it by wifi without connecting the laptop by ethernet cable the management file on the CD won't open.

  • Great devices albeit a little hit and miss on setting up.

Having bought a kit a while back, decided to add two extenders. Working well, but setting up is hit and miss. I eventually got to work but still unsure why the procedure didn't work first time since all I was doing was repeating over and over until eventually they worked. Once setup, they are excellent extenders free from the usual WiFi extenders that suffer marked attenuation through thick multiple walls. The one in my garage gives me great internet (using the WiFi option) for internet radio. I would still recommend these devices however!
