First time shredder buyer
As a first time buyer I was nervous picking a shredder as there seem to be a lot of negative reviews concerning ‘cheaper’ models for shredders, but I did not want to spend loads because I only needed one for personal daily/household letters and receipts etc. I feel I’ve chosen well though! Had a massive bag of receipts/letters to shred and did this over 2 days (probably 3hrs worth in total) with no issues and from what I can tell from reading other reviews, using the shredder sensibly; of course they will overheat if constantly being motored. So I shredded a good few bits at a time for about 5/10mins then left it for a minute to prevent over heating. I had 2 minor paper jams and I think that’s because I shredded those sticky return/address labels that come with delivered items. I had about 2 years worth of receipts to shred! But was able to do 4/5 at a time no problem and would do just 2/3 A4 sheets a time, again, with no problems (it’s says you can do up to 5, but again I didn’t want to risk it when didn’t need too, just trying to use the product sensibly). Yes the machine would cut out when bucket got full and paper had no where to go, but really easy to empty out and place motor back on top because it just sits on top of bin, with handles to the motor piece for easiness of grabbing/removing. I’m so pleased with my purchase and feel I made a great choice especially for the price. Now I’ve shredded my bag of 2 years worth of paper, I can now just regularly shred stuff as I go along with no worries of it over heating and knowing it will not jam and do a job as needed. Oh and I did let a couple of staples go through, which went fine, but I’ve got to be honest I didn’t feel comfortable doing it just in-case it did cause a problem so it is just as easy to tear of the staple quickly before putting it through the machine; the instruction pamphlet says you can put them through, but recommends you don’t. The lead can be stored very easily into the bin part when not in use/plugged in, so storage neat and tidy. And one of the handle ends extends to go over a larger bin if you need at times to avoid emptying the smaller bin so regularly, but that’s if you are doing loads of larger paper shredding at one time. I hope this review has made sense and people find it helpful; I have written a long review because I know what it was like trying to make a decision myself around buying a shredder. The delivery was free, straight forward, arriving on time and hand delivered in simple, but sufficient packaging - great. Plus great price for what I needed (so glad! I didn’t spend £30 which is what I was considering). This does exactly what I need it to do with no issues so highly recommend this for a simple household shredder in my humble limited experience of them. Oh and the noise level was ok to the point that I’m only mentioning it because I’ve seen this in other reviews so seems it can be an important buying point for some - I didn’t even think of the noise until now to do this review so it couldn’t have been that bad I reckon. For only very small amounts of items needing shedding.....
The shredder worked but the black box catching the shredded paper was way to small! I was truly expecting a much bigger container.....you shred 6 A4 sheets and you have to empty the box? So if you have loads of personal info to get rid of it takes for ever! Also I have noticed that you can’t use it for longer than approx. 10 mins. Or more as it gets hot then shuts down and won’t work, (poor thing needs a rest) of say 5 mins. Before it will work again. I had one years ago that was twice the size and that did the same thing.......so I didn’t pick the cheapest I went for one That I thought was much bigger to find the photo was deceptive and that the box was much smaller than it appeared to be....Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good entry-level product.
This is a very good low cost shredded, I used it to shred a few hundred pages over the course of a few days, it is advertised to shred up to five pages at a time but this will quickly cause the shredder to cut out due to overheating (a built-in safety feature). The blades did fully jam up a couple of times, requiring full disassembly to resolve. cheap not up to the job unless you do 1 or 2 sheets at a time and very infrequently
OK it was cheap at £15 but it felt it - I put in the max number of sheets and it jammed nearly immediately. All attempts to fix failed - threw it in the bin put it down to buy cheap pay dear. Excellent for small volumes
Excellent product, provided you only need to shred a few sheets of paper at a session. If you regularly have a lot you'll need something more robust. Good at what it does
It must be remembered, that this item is not described as a cross-cut shredder. If you are thinking of using the shredded paper as animal bedding or for composting, then this is not for you. Apart from that it does what is says on the tin.
