Happy with the purchase
I was happy to get this product at what I felt was a really good price on ebay. I did not need the wattage, steep gradients, or portability that upgrading to the Kickr provide, plus the 2019 comes with cadence sensor, so the only thing I'm missing is heart rate (which I had assumed my fitbit would provide, but there's no direct link to kickr).
As an avid but fair-weather cyclist, I was anxious to find a way to spin in the winter without having to drive the 30 minutes round-trip to my gym. Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly after about a month.
1) Setup of the trainer will take you the better part of an hour. That's just assembling, and getting your bike on it. This part is not hard, and the instructions and parts were correct in my box.
2) Connecting your trainer to whatever apps and device(s) you want to use can take SEVERAL hours. I have tried Zwift (best if you want to ride competitively), FulGaz and Rouvy. Each has plusses and minuses, and this review is not about apps, but be prepared that to use the trainer, you may need to be a tech guru because riding a smart trainer without an app is like riding a more expensive, boring trainer.
3) With some apps, the trainer seems to be delayed in responding to gradient. This can mean that before you have a chance to respond based on visual / resistance, it's already super difficult to shift.
All that said, I have ridden, enjoyed, and pushed myself with the Kickr. If you are wondering about Core versus Kickr, I'd save the $300 and go Core.
