Perfect for Bafang BBSHD mid drive E-assist
I had this hub built into a velocity aero heat rim for three of my e-assisted recumbents (Terratrike Gran tourismo, RANS stratus and RANS dynamick). I opted not to use the gear shift sensor as it’s not necessary with this hub. I regularly run the 1500 watt motor at full capacity while climbing a 2 mile steep hill on my daily commute to work. The hub is rated for a maximum of 350 watts but like I said, I’m running the full 1500 watts of power with it in the easiest setting and after 6400 miles I have not had any issues with it. The first one I set up was a lit hue tricky as far as setting up and cutting the shifter cables but the Manuel had great instructions and it worked perfectly. The next two I set up we’re a snap! The one on my RANS dynamick crank forward semi-recumbent is used off toad and has taken quite a lot of abuse and it’s still perfect. I reccomend using the Paul’s components “Melvin” chain tensioner with it as you won’t be able to find a better quality chain tensioner. I do have one if my bikes set up with this hub/motor combo and an origin 8 chain tensioner that also works well but you have to be careful tolling the bike backwards as that chain tensioner doesn’t like going backwards!
