    If you are handy don’t be afraid to buy a “for parts” item

    For what it is/was I gave it only 4 stars because it was for parts; if it was a brand new working disposer it would be a 5 star-but would have cost me a lot more. My old Insinkerator disposer developed a crack in the grinding chamber and leaked (plus it was almost 20 years old) so it had to be replaced. This one was new but didn’t work because it had a bad electric winding in the motor. All I needed to do was swap out my good winding for the bad one and since everything was a direct substitute I ended up with a perfectly good 3/4 hp disposer to replace my old 1/2 hp for over half the price, plus a few hours time to do the parts swap. It was a great deal! I didn’t recommend it because of the work that needed to be done to it; however, if you are handy and find a similar deal grab it.

    Nice Unit, Easy Install

    I'm not exactly handy, but the installation went without a hitch. The Insinkerator Badger is smooth, and quieter than my previous Sears unit. It seems to handle all waste with ease. It's a good disposal and easy to install

    Direct replacement for older model of same brand.

    This disposal is replacing one of the same brand and style that had a chemical reaction between the aluminum upper housing and the dishwasher chemicals. A hole corroded and developed a 3/8" hole which flooded the cabinet floor as the dishwasher discharged it's load of water. It lasted over ten years. The new one has a plastic upper housing which should not corrode. The new one has interchangeable hookup locations with the older model. The noise level is comparable to the older model. The stainless sink help amplify the noise level. The unit ran quietly when tested before being installed. The lower motor bushing was out of alignment due to a shipping injury, causing the motor to hum. Once corrected, everything was fine. Before being corrected, rotor was making a metal on metal rubbing sound when spun manually. Retired electrical tech teacher.
