The UM 2 works very well with the Garageband DAW straight out of the box, no downloading required. Simply load the DAW, go to preferences, audio / midi and select USB audio codec for input and output (output will be through the UM2 headphone socket) or use built in if you are using monitor speakers and exit preferences. In your project select either 1 usb audio codec if you are using mic input or 2 usb audio codec if you are using inst 2 input jack plug, and your good to go. Top tip: When setting volumes, turn the gain up until you hear any pre amp hiss then back it down until the hiss is inaudible. This will give you great results.

  • No nonsense sound interface!

Perfect mid range sound interface, works perfectly well on pc or mac, and the control knows on top of the unit and good and have a larger range not just on or off. Perfect for home studio, youtube channel, podcast with a microphone. Mic port is xlr and jack style with 48v phantom power for those tricky condenser microphones. A must buy.

  • Brilliant

I have been recording on my home studio on and off for a few years now but have often had trouble with latency. Recently II have been setting up my Macbook with Cubase which I prefer over Garage Band but while using my old usb interface could not get past the latency issue. Latency is when you record your second track it is out of time slightly to the first. This interface cures the problem completely. The latency before was caused by the first track being played back after going through the processor which inserts a time delay while listening to the second track at source, therefore with no time delay. With the UM2 you are listening to all the tracks before the processor so they are all in sync. This means no latency at all. If you are experiency the same problem don't hesitate, buy it now. Worth every penny.

  • Simple basic audio interface

I am a beginner guitar player and a beginner at recording my efforts! I am using this with a mac so no drivers are required (I understand drivers are required for a windows computer but can not comment further on that). It wasn't quite plug and play in that I had to adjust inputs etc but that was easy to do. I have an electric guitar plugged in to input 2 and a dynamic microphone for recording my acoustic guitar in input 1. I am now able to use my computer to record easily. I am sure I may need to upgrade to a more advanced audio interface at some point in the future but this has enabled me to get started.

Easy to use, with good sound quality. Very happy with this purchase. No additional software needed for use with a PC. I'm using it with Audacity as well as for livestreaming on Zoom.

  • Just the job

Compact and easy to use. Works perfectly in my little home studio. Ok, so it’s a bit plastic in construction but it’s not going to be dragged all over the country doing live gigs. Perfect if you need a simple usb interface and don’t want to break the bank.

  • Looking smart, sounding smarter! Low latency with ASIO4ALL, ergonomic layout

Very low latency using ASIO4All Windows 10 drivers; improved sound quality with the generic driver in games in Windows 7, as well. Having a hardware knob to control volume is amazing after all this fiddling with shortcut keys or Windows Volume.

  • U-Phoria um2.

Does what it does, struggles a little bit on the high end but works well otherwise. For the price, theres no arguing, great for beginners and works well with Guitar Rigg 5!
