  • Grind and Brew

The Mellita GRIND AND BREW, is fairly easy to understand, has a good amount of facilities, but the quality of the cup depends on your ratio of water, amount of beans you grind and the coarseness or otherwise of your chosen grind . ( fine medium and coarse) It has features such as a timer ( coffee to greet you in the morning) , the amount you make, it calculates the amount of beans needed for the chosen number of cups, and it’s easy on the eye, and to keep clean. It’s impressive to look at, but you will need a separate milk frother if you want the more exotic coffees. All in all, I’m pleased I bought it.

  • Better than expected, makes your house smell great

Easy to set up and figure out, has perfectly usable timer. USes disposable paper filters, but these are not expensive and at least they're paper and so will degrade. Makes your house smell like walking into a coffee shop, which is nice, Variable grind and strength means you can mess around with how your cup is made, to get the flavour and strength you want - do yourself a favour and don't just stick to the defaults. But a good starting point is 2 bean strength and right in the middle for grind, and then work from there. Two cups is almost one 14oz mug. My only gripe is that it doesn't seem to produce coffee as hot as I would have expected. I've got an Ember Mug2 which tells you the temperature of the liquid you put in it, and it seems to be coming out around 73c (or 163.4f). If you are pouring into a normal mug you should be aware that this will lose heat rapidly, so if you like the more bitter intensity and roastiness you'll need to drink faster! To be honest, I like the lower temperatures of around 58c, where there is a good mix of intensity and other flavour notes, but your miileage may vary. I've given it four stars because although it's not going to compete with four figure coffee makers, for the price it's definitely better than I expected.

  • Pretty good coffee maker

It dropped a star because the beans don't always go smoothly into the grinder hole and have to be jiggled about with the end of the brush! Consequently we won't use the timer function BUT that's not a problem as it brews really fast anyway. Everything else is spot on. With a bit of experimentation the perfect combo of water capacity, grind & brew strength have been achieved. Very good value for money too as it's way cheaper than a lot of the bells-and-whistles products which probably don't produce any better coffee.

  • Great coffee machine and best of its kind compared to cheaper alternatives. Recommended!

Great coffee machine and much more reliable and better made than a cheaper other branded model (Russell Hobbs) I bought in the past. Nice and quiet during coffee brewing process (except when beans are being grounded and when the water reservoir is just about to finish). Very convenient having the timer on function, coffee strength buttons and choices of grinding (course to fine). Handy to set the water hardness level and know it advises you when it needed descaling. Good too having flexibility between beans and already ground coffee. Can't say anything negative and I believe it's worth the money. Don't buy cheap to buy twice - but this it's got a 3 year guarantee and made in Germany!

  • Only Grinder / Filter unit with paper filters?

Wanted a grinder / filter coffee maker to replace a Philips Model which is now obsolete. Larger than the old one but seems to work OK. Only gripe is that the coffee cup setting goes up in doubles so does not give enough choice.

  • Great coffee machine...easy to use.

Easy to use and makes great coffee. Timer is good for waking up to fresh coffee. Only thing to consider if purchasing is the height , It doesn't fit under the kitchen wall cupboards. Overall a good machine and good quality

  • no complications with great results.

Easy to use, easy to clean, and more importantly it keeps the coffee hot for a decent length of time.

  • Excellent Filter Coffee Machine

Easy to use and clean. The coffee grinder has an aroma selector, this selector changes how fine the beans are ground hence how much flavour is released. Would recommend.
