Quality on the cheap
Cooke & Lewis are the better of the two ranges sold by B & Q. They have thicker board used in the carcase, and rigid backing board not faced hardboard. Bought from B & Q they would be delivered ready assembled, with drawers and/or doors fitted . Bought as Clearance they are not assembled, but prepared, with dowels and cams etc in place. They are almost always clearance because there is something slightly wrong. a chip or dent, or only part of the item is sent. For example you may be sold a drawer cabinet without the drawers - but it is made clear what is, and what is not included, and often there is advice on how to adapt a unit to become the one you actually want. Since we only pay a fraction of the original price, they are very good value. I am adapting an existing kitchen, using very old solid wood doors, to make a part painted and part oak "Country Kitchen". For me, this carcase, and the others items in the same range, have provided the "oak " look where I want it, (on the ends of runs), and suit me perfectly
