it helped calm my dogs ears
My dog was having problems with inflamed ears. He has allergies, but I try not to give him meds (oral steroids) unless absolutely necessary. We had Mometamax, but the reviews of dogs going deaf (!) scared me. So I bought this to try. I did not fill the ears completely, but put it directly on the outer area which was inflamed (the vet pointed out how the ear gets bumpy). I did it for 7 nights. He definitely had a reduction of scratching in his ears and it has continued to be less after I have discontinued use. I would use this product again in a heartbeat. Most dogs will have a yeast infection in their ears at some point, and for the long eared dogs, it can be a chronic problem. You can pay for endless vet visits and you'll be given Otomax which is a prescription only treatment and it does work. The dangers of permanent hearing loss are a side effect of long term usage. My Mini-mutt, a 12 pound ShihTzu / Poodle mix was experiencing a nasty ear infection (one ear only). The same was happening to two similar breed dogs of friends. Friends took their dogs to the vet, and by the time they were on the road to recovery, had spent over $300 each. I researched the treatment provided by the vets (Packing a wax like combination of meds in each ear - to stay in their ears for two weeks. If not cleared up, repeat the process for an additional two weeks - at additional cost, I might add), and happened upon Zymox as a possible alternative. finally something that works.
I bought this because I read a review from a vet's assistant that claimed they had tried everything for their dog's ears ( scratching, bleeding, red, sore) and nothing worked until she tried this. Same with us. Our vet gave us this and that, we tried medication from the local farm store. Nothing worked. This worked. In two days our dogs were improving. We followed the instructions to the T. The ears start ozzing black stuff, but don't clean them until they are healed. Then start an ear wash regement. Perfect for "floppy eared" dogs!

Works great for funky labby ears.
My two labby mix breed gals like to play in the pond. Mosture gets into ears and is trapped by their floppy lab ears. Gets kinda funky in there sfter a while but zymox seems to clear it up quickly and the girls tolerate it well. Effective and works fast
Golden Retrievers typically get a lot of yeast infections in their ears. I took ours to the Vet twice and paid for the office visit and for a small bottle of prescription drops (and I mean small bottle.... only 5 ml or 1 teaspoon of medicine). After the drops ran out he was fine for about a month. Then his ears started to smell again and the infection came back. So I took to the internet and found numerous raving reviews for Zymox Otic HC. I decided to give it a try. The item is pricey, however when compared to a Vet visit and prescription cost it is a great deal. The best part... you don't need a prescription to buy it. The drops are applied directly into the dog's dirty, smelly ear. Following the directions I applied liberally into his ear canal for 7 days and the infection went away.
